Our Philosophy

Within all of us is an Inner Yogi. A wisened self, this is where our intuition (tuition from within) comes from.

“Yoga starts listening, when we listen”. At Real Yoga we teach you how to listen, which means reconnecting to your Inner Yogi. Thousands of years of Research and Development created this as Real Yoga and here it is delivered by Mike, with his decades of experience as a therapist, Buddhist and Yoga Acharya (teacher).

Yoga is commonly misunderstood in the ‘West’. The word Yoga means to ‘Connect’ or to Join. To Connect to who, or to join to what? Here is the answer…to Connect to YOU… to Join to YOU!

Most of us are in various stages of disconnection from who we are.

Yoga is the ‘how to’ of achieving harmony. Our philosophy is taught in ‘The Route of 10’, where we use 1 to 10 to teach 175 insights that will change your life.

You will learn that the body is an extension of the mind, this is why when you have a thought, you create a feeling in the body. With Real Yoga the mind and the body are treated as one and the same.

Do you know that in your body you have a Force that holds the Blueprint for your mental and physical health?. This force is known as ‘Prana’ or ‘Chi’ in the East and with Real Yoga you will learn how to access its incredible power.

Real Yoga philosophy offers you the tools for seeing the truth and achieving health and happiness. You will learn Hatha Yoga which involves postures that are held and pulsed and were designed over thousands of years to reinstall health.

Also you will learn Raja Yoga which is both the goal of yoga and the method of attaining that goal. It is the understanding and delivery of Patanjalis Eightfold Path.

The yoga Asanas (postures) come in different forms, from which different benefits can be derived. At Real Yoga we teach the full spectrum of Raja/Hatha Yoga.

With our awareness of Kundalini we see that nerve centers in the body have become inactive through blockage and that this leads to poor health, here we work on dissolving this blockage and turning the lights on in the ‘dark spaces’ in the body

Among its many beneficial effects, yoga has been shown to :-

· increase strength.

· flexibility and balance.

· enhance immune functions.

· lower blood sugar and blood pressure.

· lower cholesterol levels.

· improve overall psychological well-being.

As a by-product it reduces stress. People who practice yoga tend to eat better, effortlessly cut back on caffeine or alcohol consumption, and spend more time outdoors.

Once people become more sensitive to the effects of different yoga positions on the body and mind, they become increasingly enthusiastic about it.

The Physical, Mental and Emotional Benefits

Yoga is perhaps the only activity that massages all the internal glands and organs of the body thoroughly — including the prostate. The Energy Centres known as Chakras actually correspond to the glands in our Endocrine System.

Yoga increases the lubrication between joints, ligaments and tendons. Rigid parts of the body become flexible. By gently stretching muscles and joints, as well as massaging various organs, yoga ensures optimum blood supply to various parts of the body and helps flush out toxins.

Yoga not only reduces stress, it strengthens the immune system. One study of 68 breast cancer patients found that those who practiced yoga had less anxiety and depression than those who did not and DNA damage from radiotherapy was less with the yoga group.

Yoga helps to control problems like long-lasting back pain, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease; not only lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure reducing stress and hormonal disorders but heal lung diseases, irritable bowel syndrome and migraine headaches.

Don’t take our word for it… come and find out, come and reconnect to your Inner Yogi.

The introduction of yoga into my life by Mike has been life changing.

It has brought a calmness that has in turn brought inner peace. And whilst not every minute of day is tranquil, it has given me the skills to make better decisions when the peace is disturbed. I’ve learnt you don’t need to be body perfect or bendy to be a yogi, you just have to find your own edge and play it. Learning yoga with Mike Will without doubt change your view of life, for the better……

I had tried different forms of yoga in the past but my real yoga journey began when I started attending Mike Lever’s classes at a particularly challenging time of my life.

Mikes passion for yoga along with his compassion for his fellow wom/man have helped me connect to a much needed inner peace and wisdom.

Mike lives what he teaches and through the teachings of the eight limbs of yoga he has respectfully shared with me and the others in our community an enriching and ancient gift. Before my regular yoga practice that Mike has nurtured and encouraged I was more reactive and less grounded. The external tended to be where I looked for blame and comfort. Through the regular practice I have adopted I have learned to be less judgemental, less impulsive and more compassionate, patient and sometimes even serene! Not only is Mike a great teacher with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, he’s a lovely human being. Along with Mike my fellow yogis are always warm, welcoming and supportive and all contribute to the magical energy of the space that has given so much.
